In my Digital Imaging course, we were tasked with creating a poster to showcase Slippery Rock University using Adobe Illustrator. I was inspired by the stunning sunsets that paint our campus skies and wanted to capture the serene evenings on campus in my design. Playing with gradients allowed me to add depth and dimension, creating a subtle yet captivating 3D light effect. The outcome is a minimalist yet alluring design that resonates deeply with my vision.

The Details

I wanted everything to feel like a real point of view photo, so I played around with the freeform gradient tool in Adobe Illustrator. This ended up being the perfect tool to create this effect. I also wanted Old Main to be 3D as well, but more like a shadow in the distance.

For this project, I wanted to create simple yet curious design. I wanted the focal point to be on a window, but how was I going to incorporate Slippery Rock University into it? I decided to illustrate Old Main with a sunset in the background. I thought a lot about quiet nights on campus doing homework while working on this, so that became the main idea for my design.
