For this project, I was inspired by the Italian term "Casalingo" for homebody. The Casalingo Journal showcases my passion for cozy aesthetics. I designed an elegant visual experience with a moody Christmas tree image on the cover and dynamic spreads featuring contrasting rooms. Mixing modern fonts and alignment techniques, I aimed for a relaxed layout, maintaining consistency in color throughout for a cohesive feel. The simple, centered back cover adds the perfect conclusion to this magazine.
This project also inspired playful layout to keep an organic feel to the design. It's not aligned perfectly to match the different textures in the photos. Contrast was created using different shapes and colors throughout the design.
We were tasked with creating a 4 page magazine with a theme of our choosing using Adobe InDesign. This is one of the very first design projects I did at the university and I am very proud of it. This project in particular made me want to be a designer. I switched from marketing to digital media production and multimedia after I turned this project in. This is also what established my love for moody design with cozy aesthetics.
